Conference registration includes access to all keynote talks, all panel presentations, the evening concert, and the pop-up exhibition; the £5.00 registration fee covers a sandwich lunch on Friday and all refreshments.

Attendance at the conference dinner is available at the subsidised rate of £24.00. This includes a drinks reception and a three-course meal with wine in the lovely environs of Newnham College.

Venues

The daytime events will take place on the ground floor of the Faculty of English on the Sidgwick Site (9 West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DP). You can find it on the map below or on the University map. The building is accessible by wheelchair, and the conference room (GR06/07) has a hearing aid induction loop installed.

The evening concert will take place in the Old Labs in the Newnham College garden. The dinner for delegates will be in the Clough Hall, the College Hall at Newnham. Both are marked in the maps linked to their names here. Please let us know beforehand if you would like further information about wheelchair accessibility for these buildings.

Newnham College is a stone’s throw away from the Faculty of English (about a 5-minute walk).

Accommodation

There are plenty of hotels, hostels, B&Bs, and Airbnb homes in Cambridge that you can search for on the usual booking websites.

The following websites may be of help.

University Rooms : Rooms in various Cambridge colleges, from approx. £40 to £100 per night. Most colleges are within walking distance from the venues (10-20 minutes); the closest include Newnham, Selwyn, Clare, Clare Hall, Robinson, Darwin, and Queen’s.

A limited number of rooms are available at Newnham College. The cost of rooms per night is £68 (en-suite guest room, breakfast included), or approx. £56 (shared bathroom facilities, breakfast included). Bookings can be made through the University Rooms website; alternatively, you can email conference@newnham.cam.ac.uk or call +44 (0)1223 335803.

University of Cambridge Accommodation Service : A list with a map of bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, and serviced apartments, for a broad range of prices.

There is also Travelodge (approx. £38-95; both the Newmarket Road and Cambridge Central locations are 35-40 minutes to walk from Newnham) and YHA hostel (30 minutes away).

Travel

From the Cambridge Railway Station, it is about a 30-minute walk to the Faculty of English, or a 10-minute taxi ride (approx. £7-10). The University bus called Universal runs frequently from outside the station; the closest stop from the venue is ‘West Road, University Library‘, which stops just in front of the Sidgwick Site.

From the Parkside Coach Stop, it is about a 25-minute walk to the Faculty of English.
